When I found out there were lung health supplements out there, I think that was the moment where I had seen it all. At first I was kind of like, "what in the actual f....???" But, after doing a lot of research, I found that there are a lot of people in need of a solution like BetterLungs.

But does it actually work?

I decided to put it through the ringer here at Legit Supplement Reviews. I'll give you the good and the bad based on my experience reviewing supplements for the last 5 years. In the end, you'll be able to see for yourself if you should try it, or go a different route.

Remember to always consult your doctor before actually taking a supplement, especially supplements like these - I would definitely recommend to air on the side of caution and just check with your doctor (takes like 5 minutes, if that).

Let's start with the key deciding factors before buying!

Key Deciding Factors Before Buying

  • All of the dosage information for the active ingredients (such as mullein, elderberry and American ginseng) is included on the label of BetterLungs. We love a transparent brand.
  • There is minimal clinical evidence that the ingredients in BetterLungs can support your lung health and improve performance.
  • Two capsules are required each day. They’re pretty large.
  • You might be able to see a difference in how your lungs feel if you’re taking this product for something like allergies or illness. However, the change in already healthy lungs may be hard to spot.
  • It can take four full weeks to see any change in your lung health once you start this product.BetterLungs by BetterBrand claims the product was developed with smokers and their lung health in mind. As health and wellness enthusiasts, we would encourage a healthier lifestyle in addition to using a product such as this.

  • You'll have to take 2 large capsules per day.
  • Could take 30-60 days to see results.

BetterBrands BetterLungs at a Glance

Green background with green balloons featuring betterlungs supplements

BetterLungs is a supplement that is made by the company BetterBrand. This brand also sells supplements such as BetterMorning and BetterMushrooms. They tend to incorporate a number of adaptogens into their products for overall health and wellness. BetterLungs is designed to support normal lung function and respiratory health. It contains seven different ingredients that have the potential to detoxify the lungs and support healthy function each day. Active ingredients include vitamin D, elderberry, mullein, L-cysteine, pine bark extract, ginseng and reishi mushrooms.

BetterBrand claims their product was designed for people who are smokers, people with allergies, frequent travelers and those who have been diagnosed with breathing problems or a lung-related health condition. Two capsules per day are supposedly all that’s needed to promote healthier and stronger lungs.

What I Like

  • BetterBrand seems to be very transparent about what they put into their products and why. You can view the exact doses for each ingredient on the product label for BetterLungs.
  • This is a pretty unique blend of ingredients that has promise when it comes to supporting your lung function. From herbal ingredients to adaptogenic mushrooms, you achieve support from seven different components.
  • You can potentially reduce a chronic cough thanks to improved immune and respiratory function from elderberry and reishi. There are also mucus-clearing benefits provided by BetterLungs.
  • There aren’t any unnecessary fillers, additives, colors or flavors in this product from BetterBrand.

What I Don’t Like

  • It appears that you have to use this product pretty consistently to see the most results. That being said, you’ll only see improvement when you’re sick if it’s something you’ve already been taking for a number of weeks.
  • If you plan on taking this product to support your seasonal allergies, you need to start it before allergy season arrives.
  • It’s somewhat expensive, priced at almost $40 per bottle (30 servings).

What Could Be Improved?

  • While we see the benefits of vitamin D for respiratory health, the amount included in BetterLungs is somewhat low, depending on what your doctor has advised you to take. You may still need to supplement with additional vitamin D.
  • Smaller capsules or needing to take fewer capsules would be optimal.

Unbiased Customer Reviews

What we don’t love about BetterLungs review process is that anyone can leave a review. Upon perusing the site, there is a button that you can click that states, “Write a Review”. There’s no process in place to confirm that you’ve actually purchased or used BetterLungs from BetterBrand.

That being said, there are a number of reviews on the company website that indicate the product wasn’t effective for what the user wanted to achieve. There are also some reviews that reflect that the customer service side of BetterBrand isn’t very positive. It seems it’s difficult to receive a response back when you have a question or want to make a change to your recurring shipments.

It appears that some people who gave BetterLungs a bad review may not have taken the product long enough to really give it a chance. As we mentioned, BetterBrand recommends that you take this product for four weeks before looking for any substantial changes in your lung function and respiratory health.

The Formula (Ingredients)

There are seven different ingredients included in BetterLungs. Let’s look at a breakdown of what BetterBrand has put into this formulation.

Vitamin D

There is 25 mcg of vitamin D in each dose of BetterLungs to support immune function. This equates to about 1,000 IU. Depending on where you live, this dose may be a little low, especially in the winter months. Some doctors recommend taking anywhere from 2,000 IU to 4,000 IU daily.

L-Cysteine

This amino acid aids in the synthesis of glutathione, which is an antioxidant that is involved in the detoxification of the body and lungs.

Elderberry

This berry is a powerful antioxidant that has been used for centuries to support a healthy immune system. Some people take it during certain times of the year to combat colds and the flu; however, it can also be beneficial for things like seasonal allergies. You may want to use this supplement year-round.

Mullein

This flowering plant is traditionally used in herbal remedies to clear mucus buildup in the lungs and airways. It can even be used when you have a sore throat.

Pine Bark

Pine bark can help clear congested nasal passages while supporting the lungs. It’s even beneficial for cardiovascular and skin health.

Reishi Mushrooms

This adaptogen has been used for thousands of years thanks to its immune-boosting properties. It’s also extremely effective for helping to promote a sense of calm and wellbeing.

Ginseng

Ginseng root is also considered an adaptogen. It has been added to BetterLungs to help boost lung performance and endurance.

Vs. Zuma Nutrition Lung Clear & Support

Zuma Nutrition has created their Lung Clear & Support supplement to potentially eliminate any inhaled pathogens that you come across, cleanse mucus out of the lungs and reduce inflammation in your respiratory tract. Active ingredients include osha root, mullein leaf, plantain leaf and spearmint leaf. This product comes in tincture form, which is nice if you want to control your dose or avoid taking capsules.

Vs. Codeage Lung Vitamins

Lung Vitamins from Codeage are made using a blend of vitamins, minerals, botanicals and fermented ingredients. This includes vitamins A, C, D and E, magnesium, zinc and organic functional mushrooms. This product is designed to help support your lungs, respiratory system and immune health. It’s a pretty affordable product, priced at under $30 for 90 capsules.

Vs. PrimalHerb LNG-RENEW

Primal Herb claims that this LNG-RENEW product can promote some pretty substantial health benefits that include decreased airway restriction, less mucus, reduced coughing, regeneration of lung tissue, immune support, detox from smoking and decreased inflammation. Ingredients include mullein, elecampane, English ivy, organic honeysuckle, osha root extract, monk fruit and black pepper fruit extract.

The Price is Reasonable, But Is It Worth It?

This isn’t the most expensive respiratory-based supplement that we’ve come across, but it’s still an investment. If you compare it to some of the other products we’ve talked about here, it’s pretty similar in the number of ingredients it includes. Though there seem to be a number of different formulations that all intend to provide the same benefits.

If you’re looking to improve your lung health and support your respiratory system, then it’s plausible to think that BetterLungs can assist. The ingredients used in its formulation have some scientific backing, though no real studies have been done on this specific collection of ingredients. It appears BetterLungs works well for some people while not really providing benefits for others. It may come down to trying it out for yourself to see what you can achieve with regular use.

Who Should Try BetterLungs?

BetterBrand markets BetterLungs to people who are smokers, those who vape and people who deal with ongoing respiratory issues. If you fall into any of these categories, you may want to consider using this product daily. It can also be beneficial if you are experiencing:

  • Chronic cough
  • Excessive mucus production
  • Decreased lung performance
  • Allergies

If you’re already taking medication for a lung-related issue or have been diagnosed with a medical condition, you should check with your doctor before starting this supplement.

Who Shouldn’t?

If you are allergic to or sensitive to any of the ingredients included in BetterLungs, you should avoid taking this product. A Doctor of Pharmacy has participated in the creation of this product, but BetterBrand recommends that you always check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting a dietary supplement such as this. If you have COPD or asthma, obtain clearance from a medical professional before trying BetterLungs.

Is BetterLungs Legit?

The ingredients used in BetterLungs have been used for centuries, for a variety of health concerns. It’s likely a very safe supplement that can provide some substantial respiratory health benefits. BetterBrand also appears to be a very transparent brand, providing clear information on what’s included in their supplements, how much of each ingredient is in each dose and why they’ve chosen these ingredients.

If you are looking to improve your lung function, lung health and potentially increase respiratory endurance, BetterLungs is a legit product that seems to have helped a number of people.
