For this article, I'm going to review Pirooz Cell Care, a antioxidant supplement designed to protect your body from stress.
In my 5+ years reviewing supplements, this is one of the more unique ones I've covered. But, there is a lot to review so let's get it going!
Big Takeaways From My Pirooz Cell Care Review
Product Description
Is inflammation aging you, making sick, and dragging down your energy levels? You may be in need of a little natural cell rehab. That's exactly what Pirooz Cell Care promises to deliver. Full of "superfood" extracts, Pirooz Cell Care is designed to protect your body from cellular stress while also regulating your body's inflammatory responses.
This is a non-GMO, gluten-free product that is manufactured in the United States using clinical testing. Each pack comes with 60 capsules made with a compound called astaxanthin (H. pluvialis extract).
Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant that is 600 times stronger than vitamin C, 100 times stronger than vitamin E, 560 times stronger than green tea catechins, 800 times stronger than COQ10, and 3,000 times stronger than resveratrol. One dose of Pirooz Cell Care also contains the same amount of omega-3 acids as 12 king salmon. I'll get into the science supporting some of the claims behind this compound when I do a dive into the formulation a little further down in this post. However, I want to first introduce astaxanthin.
"Astaxanthin is a natural, red pigmented ketocarotenoid (or plant color) found in some types of microalgae and yeast," shares WebMD. This is a pigmented fat-soluble substance with antioxidant properties that are believed to protect cells from damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals. It does this by neutralizing reactive oxygen on the interior and exterior layers of cell membranes.
Consult Your Doctor Before Taking
Astaxanthin is recognized as safe to consume under its Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) status with the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, it's always a good idea to run this supplement by your doctor before taking it. This is especially important if you're taking any medications because you want to make sure that you're not triggering any potential drug interactions. Bring the packaging with you to your appointment to allow your doctor to read the ingredients!
What Are Some of the Benefits One Can Expect?
Is the hype around astaxanthin real? When researchers studied astaxanthin as a potential mitochondrial-targeted antioxidant treatment for diseases and aging, the results were fascinating. Here's just a glimpse at what was uncovered.
Astaxanthin reduces the oxidative stress caused by hyperglycemia in pancreatic β-cells and improves glucose and serum insulin levels in diabetes.
Astaxanthin is a potential therapeutic agent against atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Astaxanthin can directly cross the blood-brain barrier to reach different mammalian brain regions.
Astaxanthin improves disuse muscle atrophy.
"In vitro and in vivo studies have associated astaxanthin's unique molecular features with several health benefits, including neuroprotective, cardioprotective and antitumoral properties, suggesting its therapeutic potential for the prevention or co-treatment of dementia, Alzheimer, Parkinson, cardiovascular diseases and cancer," according to a 2019 paper on the therapeutic uses of natural astaxanthin using human clinical trials.
When taking Pirooz Cell Care, you can expect to experience any of the dozens of potential positive side effects of using this strong antioxidant. The biggest benefit may be that you get sick less frequently. That's because astaxanthin actually influences the immune system by activating white blood cells (T-cells) and natural killer (NK) cells. For people suffering from age-related or arthritis-related inflammation, this product shows promise for reducing proteins that are associated with a wide range of inflammatory diseases that can include celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, and more. In fact, the potential heart benefits of Pirooz Cell Care deserve some attention.
Astaxanthin may actually help to reduce "bad" LDL cholesterol, raise "good" HDL cholesterol, and lower high blood pressure. Finally, this supplement may provide a cognitive boost. As a smaller molecule capable of passing the blood-brain barrier, astaxanthin has protective benefits for the brain.
Who Should Buy Pirooz Cell Care?
Pirooz Cell Care is a supplement to consider if you feel "worn down" by inflammation. If you're living with a sense of battle fatigue caused by stress, the antioxidant power of this formulation could be great for giving your body a restart. Getting caught up in the "inflammation cycle" can cause you to feel and look tired. We may also start to notice aches, pains, and stiffness that rob us of our vitality. Pirooz Cell Care can help to refortify the body. Lastly, this product is one to check out if you find that you are constantly getting sick due to a depleted immune system.
Who Shouldn't?
You'll probably need to skip Pirooz Cell Care if you're already taking prescription medication for blood pressure. When used in conjunction with medication, astaxanthin may actually make your blood pressure too low. Due to the lack of information about the side effects of astaxanthin for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should definitely avoid it under these circumstances.
You should also approach products containing astaxanthin with caution if you suffer from low calcium, autoimmune disorders, low blood pressure, thyroid issues, or hormone problems.
Finally, astaxanthin should generally be avoided by people with seafood or fish allergies.
How Much Does It Cost?
Pirooz Cell Care pricing is a little complicated if this is your first time ordering. If you opt for a one-time purchase of a single pouch, the cost is $49.95 for a pouch with 60 capsules. Subscribing for once-monthly deliveries brings the price to $39.95 each. If you want to commit to six pouches, the cost goes down to $39.95 per pouch for a one-time purchase. If you turn your six-pouch purchase into a recurring subscription, the cost is just $29.95 per pouch. Finally, you can choose to purchase three pouches at once for either a one-time purchase price of $44.95 per pouch or subscription price of $34.95 per pouch.
Don't worry if running the numbers feels a little tricky. I'll share that the best value is the recurring order for six pouches if you're trying to get the lowest price per pouch possible.
Breaking Down the Formula
As I covered earlier, the driving force behind this supplement is astaxanthin. Astaxanthin (H. pluvialis extract) is the primary ingredient. The rest of the capsule is made of extra virgin olive oil, gelatin, glycerin, and water.
Potential Side Effects
While astaxanthin is generally considered to be a well-tolerated ingredient from the sea, some people do experience mild side effects. The most common side effects are increased bowel movements and red stool color. Taking large doses of astaxanthin may cause stomach pain and cramping.
Comparable Supplements to Consider
A few mainstream brands put out astaxanthin supplements. NOW's astaxanthin supplement contains non-GMO Haematococcus pluvialis microalgae for a price of around just $13. Swanson also has an Organic Spirulina & Astaxanthin product that's under $10. These are great low-commitment, low-price alternatives.
FAQs
Most people notice changes in the way they feel after just seven to 10 days. Although in my 5+ years reviewing supplements, I would probably say you may see results after 30-60 days of taking Pirooz Cell Care.
Generally, this product can be taken with other vitamins and supplements. However, you should avoid taking Pirooz Cell Care with other carotenoids because the effects may be amplified beyond the healthy limit.
While Pirooz Cell Care is made in an FDA-regulated facility in the United States, the company doesn't publicize its testing methods beyond sharing that its formulations are "clinically tested."
Is Pirooz Cell Care legit? Or should you pass it by?
Pirooz Cell Care is certainly a legitimate supplement containing a proven antioxidant called astaxanthin. The microalgae blend used to make this supplement is sourced from the Columbia River Gorge in the Pacific Northwestern United States. While this supplement is the "real deal" in terms of offering the ingredients it claims to offer, my only concern is that the price might be slightly inflated compared to other astaxanthin supplements offering similar benefits. However, the very pure sourcing used for this product does make it a competitive option.
Thank you for sharing I just purchased a one time pouch. Anxious to see the results.
Hey Cheryl,
You are very welcome, and thank you for the comment. Please let me and the readers know how it worked for you (good or bad!) after you tried it!
I have used several of the Pirooz products for about two months now and I am more than satisfied with them. In particular, I use Astaxanthin to help relieve the inflammation in my joints and I have noticed a significant difference in the day-to-day stiffness and soreness. My learning indicates that Astaxanthin may also play a role in cellular repair and with the Immune Defense System I feel I am making meaningful progress to optimal health. Personally, it wasn't until I noticed significant joint improvements and better movement relief that I convinced of the products benefits. If the products are reducing internal inflammation elsewhere, as well as they have in my joints then I am a loyal customer.
Great insights and personal notes, Kevin. We appreciate your comment and review, I’m sure our readers will also appreciate it as well. That said, anyone who’s reading this, results could obviously vary from person to person. You are the second person so far that has noted Pirooz supplements working. Good for you, good for Pirooz. We love covering legit products.
