Are you deciding between Ritual and Bird & Be prenatal vitamins?
I have been taking Ritual prenatal vitamins for over a year now, but wanted to give Bird and Be prenatal a try after hearing about it on a popular podcast that I listen to.
Going into it, I knew it was going to be a stretch to pull me away from Ritual, as they are one of the most trusted supplement brands in the world. Ritual also has fair pricing in my opinion, while Bird & Be looks very expensive while shopping on their website.
I decided to give it a try anyways because for some reason, I am always thinking of trying to conceive another baby in the back of my mind. And, just in case it works out, I really want me and the baby to have all the essential nutrients we need.
Which prenatal vitamin was better for me? Ritual or Bird and Be? Stick around and find out.

All About Ritual Prenatal Vitamins
Ritual Prenatal Vitamins is a OB/GYN recommended formula created by a very trustworthy brand - Ritual. Their prenatal vitamins consist of 12 key nutrients for before and during pregnancy.
- Folate
- Choline
- Iodine
- Omega-3 DHA
- Iron
- Vitamin B12
- Vitamin D3
- Vitamin K2
- Vitamin E
- Magnesium
- Boron
- Biotin
The price is $39, making it one of the more affordable prenatal vitamins on the market. They are simple capsules and you can choose between citrus or mint essenced. I really like the mint essenced capsules as you can actually taste the mint when you put it in your mouth. The capsules are also designed for optimal absorption and are a delayed release capsule. This helps us get all the ingredients in the right spots in our body.
My Experience With Ritual Prenatal Vitamins
While taking Ritual Prenatal a few years ago, we conceived our second child. It was a special time in our lives. Ritual had just launched their vitamin products, including their prenatal. I was already taking their women’s multivitamin and thought going with the prenatal and postnatal vitamins would be a great choice as well.
I really liked the simplicity of Ritual prenatal vitamins and the $39 price tag. The two capsules are super easy to take and I LOVED the mint flavor - it makes it super easy to swallow.
Overall, I felt great after taking them for a few months. There were no issues of my body not responding well to certain ingredients, which I credit to the simplicity of the formula.

Bird & Be offers a few different prenatal vitamins, depending on which stage you’re in. The great thing is they have prenatals and postnatals for men and women. It’s easy to shop on their website and get what you need. For me, I went with The Powers for Females, which is for trying to conceive. There are a lot more ingredients in it than Ritual, which I was nervous about, but I still wanted to give it a try.

My Experience With Bird and Be Prenatal Vitamins
I chose to go with The Powers for Females by Bird & Be, which is designed for those trying to conceive. The price tag is pretty steep, costing $60 for a one-time purchase. And, if you choose to go with the CoQ10 boost, the price goes up to $75. I decided not to go with the CoQ10 boost.
The formula is way more complex than Ritual’s prenatal vitamin. I’ll compare those formulas later on. But, I was a little nervous with all those ingredients.
I didn’t actually conceive while taking Bird & Be prenatal vitamins, but I did feel very confident in knowing that I was getting the right nutrients for me and the future baby.
The are two downsides with Bird and Be The Powers for Females, in my opinion:
First, I had some days where I felt a little “off.” I’m pretty sure it was the fact that there are too many ingredients in this particular formula. Sometimes, my body doesn’t do well with too many ingredients. Simple is better for me.
And, second, it’s a complete vitamin pack. So you’re taking multiple capsules. I’m really not a fan of taking more than 2 capsules for a single serving. It becomes a chore and it’s hard to swallow on a daily basis.
Overall, it was a decent experience. I’m just not sure I would be willing to spend that kind of money each month, especially since I didn’t feel my best and there are just too many capsules for me to swallow every day.

Comparing Formulas
When it comes to the ingredient list, Ritual and Bird & Be take noticeably different approaches. Ritual’s formula is streamlined, focusing on 12 key nutrients that are essential for prenatal health. This simplicity resonates with those who prefer a minimalist approach to supplements. Bird & Be, on the other hand, offers a more comprehensive list, including a wider range of vitamins and minerals. This could be appealing if you're looking for a more exhaustive nutrient profile. However, it's important to consider that a longer ingredient list might increase the likelihood of sensitivities or reactions, as I experienced.
Comparing Results
With Ritual, I felt a sense of well-being and had no adverse reactions, which I attribute to its straightforward formula. My experience with Bird & Be, while reassuring in terms of nutrient coverage, was slightly less comfortable. The complexity of their formula seemed to cause some days where I felt 'off.' In terms of efficacy, both brands deliver essential prenatal nutrients, but the difference lies in how our bodies respond to their formulas.
Comparing Pricing and Overall Value
Ritual stands out for its affordability at $39, offering a cost-effective solution for prenatal care. Bird & Be is notably more expensive, with prices starting at $60 and increasing if additional supplements are added. This higher price point might be justifiable for those who prioritize a more extensive nutrient profile and don’t mind the higher cost. However, for those who prefer a budget-friendly option with essential prenatal nutrients, Ritual may be the better choice.
Main Differences Between Bird and Be and Ritual
The key differences boil down to the complexity of the formulas, the number of pills required per dose, and pricing. Ritual offers a simpler, more affordable option with fewer capsules per serving. Bird & Be provides a more comprehensive nutrient range but at a higher price and with more capsules to consume.
Which Prenatal Vitamins Are Better: Ritual or Bird and Be?
The answer depends on individual preferences and body responses. If you prefer simplicity, fewer capsules, and a more affordable option, Ritual could be your go-to choice. However, if a comprehensive nutrient profile and a higher budget align with your prenatal needs, Bird & Be might be more suitable.
